The Cape Fear Region is blessed with a beautiful shoreline and abundant marine resources. For that reason, it is a popular place to visit and settle. Increased population and development is placing pressure upon our waterways. Water Quality at the Cape Fear Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation believes the health of our waterways and beaches to be an essential part of the public trust, and the fundamental component of that health is clean water. Water Quality is developing several programs we feel will uniquely address our clean water concerns. In collaboration with the University of North Carolina Surfrider Club we plan to implement water testing programs in several New Hanover County Creeks. Complimentary to that is an effort to publicize and expand awareness of a North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality water testing program along our beaches.
